Paddock To Be Altered For Hotel?

It has been reported that the deal which will see a hotel erected on the grounds of Batavia Downs will be finalized this week.

According to a report by The Daily News, guests that are staying at the hotel will be able to watch horses in action from a climate-controlled bridge which will connect the hotel to the building that houses the gaming area.

The article also states that a portion of the paddock will also have to be removed, something which will have to be given the green light by the state’s gaming commission.

Initial hotel plans that were released last month showed that the hotel would be built in a different location, but Western Region Off-Track Betting CEO Michael Kane has been quoted as saying that “There wasn’t enough property ... and it didn’t work logistically for (Batavia Downs).”

Kane went on to say, “The north site is more conducive for us and has the advantage of many rooms’ balconies looking out on the track during training and racing.”
