Despite being on the receiving end of a tough trip, Kennel Buddy came away victorious in Tuesday’s Preferred 3 for trotters at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

J Harris got away third with Kennel Buddy while Winkys Pride motored to the lead from Post 7 and hammered out first-half fractions of :30.4 and 1:02.1. Kennel Buddy was on the move in the first-over position as the field neared the half, and he poked a nose in front while racing parked past the three-quarter pole in 1:31.1.

A :30.1 closing quarter propelled Kennel Buddy to the win by 2-3/4 lengths over Savthelstdancforme in 2:01.2. Taking home the show dough was Winkys Pride.

David Dowling trains the seven-year-old son of Ken Warkentin-Bernice Daniece for Allan Neal of Grand Bend, Ont. The gelding went over $240,000 by registering the 28th win of his career.
