Witch Dali Delivers; Moreau Triples

It was a big night at the office Friday evening at Woodbine Racetrack for multiple O’Brien Award-winning trainer Richard Moreau, who celebrated a three-win performance including an impressive score with Witch Dali in the Fillies & Mares Preferred Handicap.

Witch Dali, in rein to Doug McNair, rallied from third over to win in 1:52 giving Moreau his third victory on the card. He celebrated earlier wins with Bettim Jackie (1:53.4 – Race 1) and Bad Night Mare (1:54 – Race 6).

As for Witch Dali, she got away sixth and watched stablemate Ms Mac N Cheese thrown down big fractions of :26, :55.2 and 1:23.3. Witch Dali tracked cover until coming out of the final turn before McNair hustled her up three-wide. She kicked home in :27.3 to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Ms Mac N Cheese. Rubis Prescott came on strong to finish third.

Brad Grant of Milton, Ont. owns the seven-year-old daughter of Dali-Whitesand Gem, who lit the lamp for the first time in four attempts this season. The 24-time winner pushed her lifetime earnings over $500,000 with the win.

Moreau continues to put up incredible numbers in the first quarter of the 2018 season. He leads all trainers in the nation with 56 wins and purse earnings in excess of $700,000.
