Alfie Carroll put the pedal to the metal early with Hldontghttoyurdrms in Thursday’s $11,000 Preferred 3 for trotters at Flamboro Downs, and the Richard Moreau trainee went the distance with a win in 1:58.1.
Leaving from Post 3, Hldontghttoyurdrms rocketed to the top from Post 3 and sliced out speed splits of :28.3, :59.1 and 1:28.3 before using a :29.3 kicker to win by three-quarters of a length over Allies Gift. Delcrest Massy tagged along to grab the show dough.
Frank Spagnolo of Ottawa, Ont. owns the eight-year-old son of Muscles Yankee-Sweet Gabriella, who picked up his first win of the 2017 campaign. The 26-time winner has earned close to $415,000 to date.
A wire-to-wire score was mapped out by driver Robert Shepherd for Seeyou Men in the $7,500 Preferred 3 for trotters.
Shepherd hustled the five-year-old son of Muscle Mass-Seeyouinthecircle to the lead from Post 6, and together they never looked back through fractions of :28.2, :59.4 and 1:30. A :30.1 closing quarter was enough to earn the gelding the win by 1-1/2 lengths over race favourite Moonbeam Hall in 2:00.1. Third prize was earned by Majestic Mystic.
Isabelle Darveau trains the trotter for Quebec partners Catheline Pelletier of Mirabel and Chantal Gravel of St-Cyrille-De-Wendover. The win improved 13-time winner’s seasonal record to 2-0-0 from four trips to the track. The lion’s share of the loot lifted his lifetime earnings to $115,327.
