At odds of 14-1, King Royalty exploded from the rail to win the St. Patrick’s Day feature pace on Tuesday, March 17 at Dover Downs.

With Jim Morand in the bike, King Royalty, who had been plagued by rough trips on the outside in his previous three races, took full advantage of leaving from the rail and posted his first win in a month recording a 1:52.4 victory. It was the first of two straight wins for Morand, a long-time leading driver in Maryland and at Dover Downs, who finished the night with three wins.

Les Givens trains the Classic Card Shark-Royal Lady Les gelding, who won for the second time in eight races this year. Middle Aged Crazy (Tony Morgan) was runner-up while Bettor And Bold (Eddie Davis Jr.) took third money.

Corey Callahan, Vic Kirby and Jim Morand won more than half of the day’s 15 races. Callahan had four, Kirby and Morand three each.
