Jackie Greene trainee Hudson Phil returned to the top class to post a 1:52.1 victory in the $15,000 Open Pace at Saratoga Casino Hotel on Saturday, March 16.
Driver Jay Randall put the four-year-old son of Shanghai Phil on the lead and set a quick clip on the cold night. Pacing to the quarter in :26.4 and the half in :54.2, Hudson Phil continued to roll on the lead in progress to the fastest mile of the season locally. Carolina Beach settled for second while Havefaithinme N took third.
Paying $6.20 to win, Hudson Phil won his first race of the season off an eight-win campaign last year.
