A set of not listed Preferred events – one for pacers and one for trotters - highlighted Sunday’s 12-race card at Rideau Carleton Raceway, and fans got some bang for their buck when Wildcat Cam rallied to win his assignment.

Sent off at 14-1 in the co-featured tilt, Wildcat Cam got away fifth for driver Tyler Moore before making a first-over move and improving to be fourth as the field hit the half-mile marker. He was third and driving on the outside heading into the final quarter of the contest, and his :28.4 kicker was good enough to earn him the win by 1-1/2 lengths over Solid Performance in 1:54.2. Genesee took home the show dough.

Trainer Jamie Copley co-owns the six-year-old Camluck-Armbro Champagne gelding with Ryan Copley of Kenmore, Ont. The partners watched the pacer win for the fifth time this season and for the 24th time in his career. The $3,325 payday bumped his career bankroll closer to $100,000.

Heres The Magic took the $6,950 trotting affair in 1:57.4 for driver Guy Gagnon and trainer Blake Curran.

Gagnon mapped out a sweet pocket trip for his charge, who watched Maximus Deo lead the field through first-half fractions of :28.1 and :57.4. Heres The Magic went on the attack in the backstretch, and he gained a short lead while racing parked past the three-quarter pole in 1:27.4. A :30-second final frame was enough for Heres The Magic to nab the one-length score over Uncle Freddie. Torches Angel rallied to finish third.

Curran shares ownership on the eight-year-old son of Kadabra-Blackberry Hanover with Jason Jamieson of Perth, Ont. It was the first win of the year and the 28th lifetime tally for the career winner in excess of $400,000.
