I Can Only Imagine ($3.00) scored a five and one-half length romp in capturing the $16,000 Open Handicap Pace at the Isle Pompano Park Saturday in 1:51.2

.

The third race feature saw Mahdi (Joe Pavia, Jr.) shoot to the early lead but by the opening quarter mile in :26.4 it was a determined Gotta Go Moe (Ricky Macomber, Jr.) that took over the lead.

Gotta Go Moe then led the field to the half mile marker in :55.3 and that’s when driver Bruce Ranger came first-over with I Can Only Imagine and pressed the race leader to the three-quarter pole in 1:23.2 and passed them by on the final turn. Starting down the stretch with a two-length lead, I Can Only Imagine poured it on in the stretch for the easy victory. Sahara Hall (Anthony Napolitano) was second with Mahdi third.

It was the fourth win in eight starts this year for I Can Only Imagine. The seven-year-old stallion by Cole Muffler is trained by Tom Harmer and owned by Michael Polansky of Loudonville, New York.
