Equine-assisted psychotherapy has been getting a fair amount of mainstream media attention as of late. If you don't believe it works, just ask retired footballer (soccer player) Paul 'Gazza' Gascoigne

.

A report by thesun.co.uk explains how Gazza has been saved from his demons by taking part in an equine assisted psychotherapy program. Gazza had suffered from addiction-related problems throughout his career. Many believe his issues with addictions stopped him from being the star footballer that he could have been.

In the article, Gazza raves about how successful his horse-whispering work had been — despite one of the animals once kicking him harder than any defender during his footie career.

"It was agony — worse than any kick I ever got on the football pitch," he was quoted as saying. "It was just one more lesson we learned that day — about teamwork and how you can’t deal with all of your problems on your own."
