Tragic Passing Of Up-And-Coming Driver

Published: February 23, 2018 03:37 pm EST

The harness racing industry is mourning the tragic passing of Australian driver Nic Dewar. Nic, 18, was involved in a single vehicle car accident on Friday (Feb. 23).

Dewar (pictured at right with Tim Tetrick) drove in a race at Shepparton on Friday afternoon and finished second with pacer Nor Nor West.

Based in Young, Nic was passionate about his harness racing and in his succinct career drove 22 winners and 57 placegetters.

As a mark of respect, drivers in Saturday night’s Miracle Mile at Tabcorp Park Menangle will wear black armbands and Club Menangle will fly a flag at half-mast.

On behalf of the entire harness racing fraternity, the Harness Racing New South Wales Board and Management extends their sincere condolences to Nic’s family and friends.

Persons seeking counselling can contact the HRNSW Development and Support Program (DASP) which is a confidential counselling and advice service provided by HRNSW.
