Ron Pierce executed a perfect drive guiding Ise The By Boy to his fourth consectuve victory, and second straight in the $30,000 Preferred Pace. The five-year-old altered son of Mach Three-Lee Fieste took the lead before the clubhouse turn and after being under pressure from Ted Tetrick-driven Mainland Key N had just enough to outlast four-rivals in deep stretch for a 1:51.3 triumph. Lous Bad Yankee and Jon Roberts was second in the tight photo with Southwestern Dream, handled by Ross Wolfenden, third, Delivered From Zin and Corey Callahan fourth, and Mainland Key N fifth in the photo.
Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinta claimed the winner last summer and after clearing a physical problem, the Eric Ell trainee has enjoyed a perfect winning month of February.
In the $30,000 Delaware Special, Nova Artist took the lead early for Allan Davis. After taking the front at the quarter, the Real Artist-Avon Lady five-year-old was never headed in a 1:51.2 performance, scoring his second straight and third win of the year. Eddie and Kathy Davis own Nova Artist, who is conditioned by their son Martin Davis. Cams Art (David Miller) raced second the entire mile while Jolt (Ross Wolfenden) jetted to the initial lead and then was shuffle to the back of the field before streaking down the lane to finish third.
After taking the lead, driver John Wagner and Scott Woogan’s Winsmith Art were never headed in a 1:51.2 victory in a $23,000 Open Pace. The win was Wagner’s 5,001st career winning drive. Kiss My Art (David Miller) was runner-up. Third place belonged to Samandar (Tim Tetrick).
New Zealand invader Bondy N notched his second straight and third win in four starts since arriving in North America for trainer Peter Tritton and owner Harry von Knoblauch. An 11-year-old Live Or Die-Killarney gelding, Tim Tetrick controlled the fractions en route to a 1:52 performance in the first of two $16,500 Male Winners Over Pace. Save Me A Place (Jon Roberts) closed with conviction to finish second in front of Village Blast (Ron Pierce).
Meanwhile, in the other division, Louie Paglierani and Legacy of Delaware’s Dinas Gamble went a big mile racing on the outside on the way to a 1:52.2 score for driver Jim Morand and trainer Wayne Givens. High Joltage (Ben Stafford Jr.) closed with a rush to finish second. Braden (Jon Roberts), the early leader was third.
