A nasty-looking, two-horse accident occurred in Race 15 at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday evening, however details aren’t available on the condition of the horses or drivers involved in the mishap

.

Moments after the starting gate sped away from the field it appeared as though Quick A Minute (Guy Gagnon) was dropping down to the rail when she came into contact with the right wheel of Blissfull Riddle (Jacques Beaudoin).

Quick A Minute fell shortly after coming into contact with Blissfull Riddle’s wheel, and that flipped driver Guy Gagnon out of the bike. It also left Kay Bueno (Mike Schaefer), who was crossing down to the rail, with nowhere to go. She collided with the fallen horse, and that sent Schaefer flying out of the bike.

Both horses rose back to their feet and proceeded to run in different directions around the track. There was no word on the condition of the horses or the drivers involved.

Despite the commotion caused by the mishap, the ORC Judges did not declare the race a "No Contest". Each horse that finished the race, however, received an "interference" notation on its chartline.

Trot Insider will post more details on the accident when they are made available.
