Fresh off a two-month layoff, Alberta invader Cool Cowboy wired a field of Open pacers in Friday night's $12,000 feature at Fraser Downs.

Scott Knight drove the five-year-old son of Brandons Cowboy for trainer Kelly Hoerdt and his partners Blair Corbeil and Peter Morris.

Cool Cowboy quickly took the lead off the gate and carved out panels of :27.3, :57.2 and 1:25.3 en route to his 20th career victory in 1:54 flat. Premium Stock followed one and three-quarter lengths behind in second-place and Sabine Pass completed the top three finish order.

Sent postward at odds of 7-1, Cool Cowboy returned $17.30 to win.

The consistent pacer has hit the board in 18 of his 19 starts this year for earnings of $55,204.
