Norway No Day Says Yes Today

Norway No Day wired the field in her first start for trainer Sebastien Giroux in Georgian Downs’ $13,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Trot on Saturday night.

The six-year-old Self Possessed mare left from Post 3 with Scott Zeron in the bike. She led the field past the first quarter in :28.3 before facing a challenge from the favoured Spare Time Rozie (Paul MacKenzie). After reaching the half-mile marker in :59, Norway No Day kicked away by three lengths cruising past three-quarters in 1:29. The winner of 26 races stopped the clock in 2:00.

Gostreet (Lyle MacArthur) rallied from seventh to finish almost three lengths back in second. Ziggy Wiggy (Kelly Sheppard) was the third-place finisher.

Norway No Day, who has been a consistent contender in the preferred class this year, has earned $288,097 in her career. She is owned by Ecuries R L Belanger of Laval, Que.
