Dali smashed the track record for three-year-old pacing colts and tied Shadow Play's World Record for three-year-old pacing colts on a five eighths mile oval when he torched the Dover Downs oval in 1:48.2 in tonight’s $249,113 Matron Stakes Final.

The son of Real Artist captured his elimination in a time of 1:49.1 one week ago for driver Ron Pierce, and Dali was even more impressive in tonight’s follow-up effort for Duane Marfisi, who conditions the pacer for the Uncirculated Stable of Brantford, ON.

Pierce plugged Dali into the two-hole while Proper Respect sliced out a solid opening quarter of :26.1. Pierce didn’t sit for long, however, as he angled Dali off the pylons and quickly sent him to the engine as the field moved in front of the grandstand.

Sent off as the 4-5 choice, Dali rolled the field through fractions of :54.2 and 1:21 while feeling first-over pressure from last week’s other elimination winner, Blueridge Western. Dali muscled away from the field over the final quarter mile en route to the eye-catching clocking of 1:48.2. Blueridge Western finished second and third went to Lisfinny.

The victory was the fourth of the season in 19 starts for Dali, who bumped this year’s bankroll to $599,642 with the win. He also joined the millionaire club with the winning effort. He has banked $1,059,124 to date.
