Just one night removed from being dumped to the track and then taken to hospital following a scary-looking spill at Flamboro Downs, teamster Robert Shepherd bounced back to take down two divisions of Thursday evening's Alliance Series for conditioned claiming pacers of the female persuasion.

Emma Ivy was bet off the board in her $6,000 assignment, and she didn’t disappoint her army of pari-mutuel supporters. Shepherd got away fifth with the Mike Weller trainee, who came first-over going to the three-quarter pole and battled to win by a head over Maudail Mac in 1:58.1. Apple Tart Hanover was third.

Sent off as the 1-9 favourite, the three-year-old daughter of Jennas Beach Boy-Empty Promises improved her 2017 record to 5-2-5 from 27 starts for owner Susan Woodyatt of Milton, Ont. The filly has banked $28,695 to date.

Ten Carat gave Shepherd another Alliance Series score thanks to her going away victory in 1:57.3. The Rod Boyd pupil got away third before charging first-over against the leaders on the way to the three-quarter pole. Ten Carat used a :29.3 closing panel to win by 3-3/4 lengths over Real Kits. Shanias Image took home third prize.

Also sent off at odds of 1-9, the three-year-old daughter of Well Said-More Diamonds now boasts a 2-1-3 record from 22 starts this season. The career winner of $31,580 is owned by Boyd and partners 83 Racing and Glenn Bechtel.

Ritasrockinheaven turned a two-hole trip into a 1:59.3 triumph in the third division for the tandem of driver Colin Kelly and trainer Craig Gilmour. Kelly, who was also involved in the Wednesday evening spill at Flamboro Downs, manufactured the off-the-pace win for the three-year-old daughter of Rock N Roll Heaven-Rita Hall. She prevailed by three-quarters of a length over race favourite Dry Creek Lis. The Camel Express was third.

Gilmour owns the pacing lass who owns a 3-8-7 record from 28 trips to the track this year. She’s quickly closing in on $25,000 in career earnings.
