I Love My Boss Takes Dover Open

Forwardly-placed, I Love My Boss inherited the front following a late break by leader Thereisademonimne to win the $25,000 Open Trot at Dover Downs on Tuesday, December 12.

Thereisademoninme cut the mile, while I Love My Boss stalked from second. From first over, Uva Hanover pressured Thereisademoninme midway through the backstretch and remained alongside the tempo setter around the final turn. Thereisademoninme remained in front into the stretch as I Love My Boss dove to the passing lane, and the pocket sitter took the front nearing the line after Thereisademoninme galloped to win in 1:55.3.

Uva Hanover was placed second, with Kanthaka placed third and Thereisademoninme, finishing second, disqualified to fourth.

I Love My Boss, driven by Jonathan Roberts, was bred and races for trainer Bob Shahan and Jim and Ashley Parsons. Now six, the Don Boss Vita-Wild One gelding has won $108,956 this season and $498,220 lifetime.

The prior race, a $13,500 Winners-Of Trot, was won by John DeVito’s My Cherry Pie, trained by Jenny Melander and driven by Corey Callahan. Soda Pump was second with Blownoutofthewater third.

Dedododo Dedadada upset in a $12,000 Winners-Of Pace at 53-1 odds with Russell Foster in the bike. Jigtime Jones and Teggers Hanoverfinished second and third respectively.

Dover Downs now features a 50-cent Pick 5 wager starting with the 2nd race through the 6th. A late daily double is carded for the 12th and 13th races.

Dover Downs races four days a week, Monday through Thursday with post time at 4:30 p.m.
