No Charges After Assault At The Track

A racing participant that needed dental work after having been assaulted at the racetrack on race day has opted to not press charges in relation to the incident.

In late September, Irish rider Aidan Coleman was assaulted in the jockeys’ room at Southwell Racecourse in Nottinghamshire, England after two intoxicated racegoers broke down a door and gained access to the room. The two males were arrested in the assault. A pair of females that joined the men for a day of racing were also arrested by authorities.

A follow-up report by Racing Post explains that none of the four individuals were charged by authorities after an investigation. Additionally, Coleman has elected to not press charges, either.

The follow-up article has quoted Coleman as saying that, as far as he is concerned, “a line has been drawn under the matter” and that “it's time for everyone to move on."

Just days after the incident, Coleman shrugged off the incident, stating at the time that "us jump jockeys are a tough bunch and a slap from a drunk wouldn't be enough to stop us going back two work."
