Mariner Seelster went to the front and didn’t look back en route to a popular victory in Sunday’s featured $10,000 Preferred 2 for pacers at Flamboro Downs.

With Doug McNair at the lines, Mariner Seelster sprinted to the lead from Post 2 and called the shots through fractions of :27.4, :57.1 and 1:26.2 before using a :30-second final frame to seal the deal by a neck over Astute in 1:56.2. Mach It Big, who did the first-over work in the back-half of the mile, was a solid third.

Barry Treen trains the four-year-old son of Camluck M T Freedom for Len Gamble of Etobicoke and Tammy Lynn Turner of Rockwood, ON. Sent off as the 3-5 favourite, Mariner Seelster won for the third time this season and the sixth time in his career. He’s on the verge of surpassing $100,000 in lifetime earnings.

The card also served up a set of $5,000 Preferred 3 affairs for pacers, with Simply Business (1:56) and Im Feelin Good (1:56.3) prevailing in their respective assignments.
