Gerald Bond Passes

Trot Insider has learned that longtime Ontario horseman Gerald Bond passed on Monday, November 27. He was 81.

Bond, who was preceded in death by his longtime wife Joan, campaigned a small stable in Ontario until 2007, amassing 36 training wins dating back to 1992 with one or two horses in action at any given time. As a driver, he accounted for 66 winners in 863 career starts, hanging up his helmet after driving Native Jackpot to a pair of starts at the Paris, Ont. fair in 2006.

Bond is survived by children Wendy (Doug McKee), Rick (Lynn), and Geraldine (Joe Kiss), several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was preceded by daughter Debbie.

A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, December 2 at Ker United Church, 9353 Twenty Road, West Lincoln, Ont. with a reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion, Smithville, Ont.
