Officials with Blooded Horse Sales have said that the recently-concluded Fall Speed Sale was the strongest racehorse sale in the company’s 67-year history.

Attracted by a catalogue loaded with young racehorses, buyers were undaunted by the extreme cold as they sought to bolster their stables for winter racing. Four-year-old invitational trotter Red Hot Herbie topped the four-day event at $100,000. Consigned by Summit Pacing Acres LLC, the talented Here Comes Herbie gelding was purchased by Allard Racing & Yves Sarazin to race in Pennsylvania and at Yonkers Raceway.

Island Jet was another stellar racehorse that attracted a lot of interest. Consigned by Rene Allard, the Jeremes Jet four-year-old with nearly $100,000 earned in 2014 was purchased by Merv Chupp, agent, for $45,000. Three-year-old Illinois stakes winning PQ Three heads to Ohio on a $29,000 bid from Frederick Reed IV. The Yankee Skyscaper gelding with $147,311 in lifetime earnings was consigned by Quaid Racing LLC.

A fancy Ontario-bred filly, Lenny Mac, from the Robert McIntosh consignment, brought $28,000. The three-year-old daughter of Kadabra with $94,237 in lifetime earnings was purchased by Earl Hill Jr., also of Ontario. Pokerface had her new owner, Rich Howles, smiling as he signed the ticket on the consistent Art Major two-year-old for $23,000.

Lovliness In Paris was the loveliest of over 150 in-foal broodmares that were offered. Carrying a Cantab Hall, the daughter of Donato Hanover from the Concord Stud consignment was purchased by Raymond Miller of Ohio for $42,000.

Opening day of the sale featured 262 yearlings from Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New York, and Ontario. These were led by New York-eligible Cash Dough, a son of Cash Hall. Consigned by En Mar Stable the handsome bay colt out of a Yankee Glide mare was purchased by Margaret Gioseffi for $21,000. Menno Lengacher of Indiana won the bidding war for the beautiful Cams Card Shark filly Cams Dreamer at $18,000. Hickory Lane Farm consigned the daughter of the great race mare Musical Dreamer p,3,1:50.4 ($532,828).
