Il Sogno Dream Impresses

Il Sogno Dream was running out of racetrack – so to speak – if he was going to get his picture taken in 2016, but a victory in Monday’s $34,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Racetrack helped him break the ice.

With an 0-for-16 record going into Monday evening’s assignment, Il Sogno Dream overcame an outside post for driver Trevor Henry and won in going away fashion. The Victory Puddy pupil got away seventh while Intimidate and Wild And Crazy Guy battled to the quarter pole in :27.1. Wild And Crazy Guy worked his way to the lead, but he quickly gave way to odds-on favourite Windsun Revenge in the backstretch.

Windsun Revenge went on to post middle fractions of :55.3 and 1:24.2. Il Sogno Dream, who was still seventh at the half, advanced to be fourth as the field headed into the final quarter of the contest. Il Sogno Dream rallied home in :30.2 into a very stiff headwind, but was enough to earn the trotter the win by a pair of lengths over Windsun Revenge in 1:55.4. Youre Majestic took home the show dough.

Sent off at odds of 4-1, the five-year-old son of Cantab Hall-Le Reve posted the 18th win of his career. Bill Manes, Dan Manes, Leonard Christopher and Randy Christopher share ownership on the winner of $931,375.
