Junebugs Baby has been a model of consistency while racing in the top pacing class at Northside Downs this season, never missing the board at the North Sydney half-mile track, and on Saturday afternoon he continued his steady run leading from start to finish.
Junebugs Baby won the $1,100 Winners Over pacing feature by three and three-quarter lengths over the off track in 2:01.1 with My Tie Wind and Silver Dragon completing the top three finishers. The victory was his seventh in 18 starts this year. Trainer/driver Fraser Turnbull shares ownership of the five-year-old son of Western Paradise with John Turnbull Jr. of Glace Bay, N.S.
Waterside Lucky competed a sweep of the three-week long Governors Pub And Eatery $1,500 Claiming Series, winning Saturday's $4,000 final by more than six lengths over early leader JJs Love Touch in 2:02.4. The eight-year-old Yankee Leader mare won the first two legs of the series for trainer/driver Walter White before being claimed by Dennis MacNeil and Darrell MacAulay of Sydney, N.S. Greg Sparling was the winning trainer and driver.
