Trainer Preston Shaw celebrated his first training victory on Friday night at Northlands Park after pacer Psymadre got up in the nick of time to upset the final race on the card.

With Philip Giesbrecht handling the driving duties for the 18-year-old conditioner, Psymadre rallied home from second over and prevailed in a three-way photo finish over Best For Blues and K B Hercules in 2:00.2 over the track rated 'good.' Favourite Cenalta Pride finished just half a length behind after leading for most of the mile.

The six-year-old D M Dilinger gelding paid $33.50 to win.

Shaw, who earned his first training win with just his fourth starter, co-owns Psymadre with Taylor Scheidt of Cochrane, Alberta.
