Icy Blue Scooter capped off a training/driving triple on the Monday afternoon harness card for Nathan Sobey, winning Century Downs' $9,000 Open Handicap Pace.

Icy Blue Scooter was second-to-last early on and began to reel in longshot leader Getup Gideon throughout fractions of :28, :57.1 and 1:26.1.

After opening up four lengths on his rivals down the backstretch, Getup Gideon began to tire in the final turn while Icy Blue Scooter closed in with favourites Southwind Jaden and Appellate driving three-wide.

Icy Blue Scooter struck the front at the top of the stretch and paced away by 3-3/4 lengths to win in 1:56.4. Phanatical Maniac edged out Southwind Jaden and Appellate for the runner-up role.

Icy Blue Scooter was the 4-1 third wagering choice and returned $10.50 to win.

Sobey also shares ownership of the five-year-old Blue Burner gelding with Diane Bertrand and Robert Gilhespy. They claimed Icy Blue Scooter for $20,000 on October 6 at Northlands Park and he has hit the board in three of his four starts since.

The win was the pacer's 10th lifetime and leaves him just shy of the $100,000 earnings mark.

Sobey also scored with Brighten Your Life ($8.70) and Smilys Amira ($3.90), both co-owned by the Don Byrne Stables.
