Alagna, Gulotta On Sovereign Deo

Sovereign Deo (Mach Three-World Of Her Own), bred and raised at Deo Volente Farms in Flemington, New Jersey, was the sales topper for yearling pacing colts at the recently-completed Standardbred Horse Sale in Harrisburg with a top bid of $190,000.

In addition, the $190,000 successful bid from purchaser Tom Hill marked the colt as the leading-selling Canadian-sired pacing colt of 2015.

Sovereign Deo is by Mach Three, who is annually among the Ontario-based siring leaders and is best known for his great son Somebeachsomewhere. The dam World Of Her Own by Western Ideal from the great Worldly Beauty is also the dam of the successful Sir Richard Z Tam by Somebeachsomewhere – thus, Sovereign Deo is his three quarter brother.

According to farm manager Fidencio Cervantez, “Mach Three was chosen after World Of Her Own could not get into ‘The Beach’ that year.”

Sovereign Deo is slated to be trained by Tony Alagna, who first saw the colt at Deo Volente earlier this summer. Alagna noted that “he’s a beautiful colt, well raised by the Deo Volente team, and I told Mr. Hill if [he] wants to dominate Ontario’s Gold Series, this could be the one.”

Mike Gulotta, owner of Deo Volente Farms said that “one of Worldly Beauty’s daughters will throw a great one, and I hope this is the one.”
