MPP Asks Opposition To Save Fort Erie

The recently-released OMAFRA report’s recommendations have caught many people off guard, and on the list of people left scratching their heads is Niagara Falls Liberal MPP, Kim Craitor.

“I was absolutely shocked,” said Craitor. “This is not what I expected.”

Craitor is referring to the OMAFRA panel’s suggestion of moving races from Fort Erie to Ajax Downs and simply closing the historic border oval.

“The report screwed up. It screwed up when it talked about Fort Erie,” said Craitor.

According to the bulletnewsniagara.ca, Craitor has called on Ontario’s opposition parties – the Progressive Conservatives and the NDP - to help save Fort Erie Racetrack.

“The quarter horse industry belongs in Fort Erie,” said an emotional Craitor at a press conference on Wednesday. “It doesn’t belong at a track (Ajax) that isn’t even a race track.”

Mr. Craitor is right when he says "The report screwed up." But he screwed up too when he voted with his party on the last budget rather than show some backbone and some scruples---something this party is extremely short on. Maybe he should cross the floor and stand with one of the opposition parties if he now has to turn to them to help save Fort Erie Racetrack and maybe his job.

I agree...Spread the wealth, east to west. Why should Ajax have it all, they are already doing just fine.
