Hoosier Park Racing & Casino and Anderson Community Schools are joining together for a charitable art show and silent auction to support the official charity beneficiaries of the 34th edition of the Breeders Crown. The equestrian-themed ART-Rageous Culture for a Cause auction will kick off on Monday, October 9 and conclude on Breeders Crown weekend (Friday, October 27 and Saturday, October 28). The art will be displayed and available for bidding online.
The art exhibit and silent auction is open to the public, and will feature original works from local students in the Madison County community. Much of the art, which may include paintings, sculptures, glasswork, woodwork, and more, will also be showcased at Hoosier Park during the week leading up to the Breeders Crown.
Auction bids will be accepted online at this link beginning 12:00 p.m. Eastern Monday, October 9, and will continue through 9:00 p.m. Saturday, October 28. A link to the auction will also be available at the Breeders Crown page on the Hoosier Park website.
Jan Koeniger, assistant superintendent of elementary for Anderson Community Schools, noted: “Anderson Community Schools' art teachers are excited to partner with Hoosier Park for the Breeders Crown. Teachers are busy helping students create works of art to display to help raise money for deserving charities. Everyone is excited to see these student creations.”
Proceeds from the auction will directly support the official 2017 Breeders Crown charity beneficiaries: New Vocations Racehorse Adoption, Standardbred Retirement Foundation, Harness Horse Youth Foundation, and The Animal Protection League.
Standardbred Retirement Foundation is dedicated to the saving, rehabilitation, care, and focus on lifetime adoption of non-competitive racehorses. Harness Horse Youth Foundation is devoted to providing educational opportunities to the next generation of harness horse participants and fans. New Vocations Racehorse Adoption is an organisation ascribed to providing retired racehorses a safety net through rehabilitation, education, and placement in caring homes. Additionally, the Animal Protection League (APL) is central to the rescue and care of homeless domestic animals in the Madison County area.

They are certainly going to make a mark on Indiana’s debut of the Breeders Crown.”
The Breeders Crown, harness racing’s annual series of 12 championship events valued at $6 million, is returning to the Midwest for the first time in more than three decades and for the very first time on Indiana soil at Hoosier Park. Hoosier Park’s seven-eighths mile track, which opened in 1994 and is owned by Centaur Gaming, is the 31st racetrack to host the Breeders Crown.
