'Team Hensley' took home top honours in Monday’s main event at Woodbine Racetrack with a pacer that celebrated his first victory in North America since making the move from New Zealand earlier this season.

Toot Toot N, who made his qualifying debut for the Hensley outfit in July, only hit the board once in his first six tries for the new connections. But he came up big in his Monday evening assignment, and as a result he got to strike a pose in the winner’s circle.

Ed Hensley sent the Ashleigh Hensley trainee to the position of command from Post 7, and together they were parked past the quarter in :27.3 before crossing down to the rail. They took a backseat to Preppy Art in the backstretch, and that foe went on to whack out middle fractions of :55.4 and 1:23.2. Toot Toot N tipped out as the field swung into the stretch, and he only needed a :30-second closing frame to win by a length over Preppy Art in 1:53.3. Third prize went to D J Power.

Sent off at odds of 12-1 in the eight-horse affair, Toot Toot N improved this year’s record to 3-2-2 from 15 starts for the Hensleys. The six-time winner has stashed away more than $36,000 to date.
