Cash Me Out Lowers Mark In Open Trot

Cash Me Out set a lifetime mark as he out-closed his rivals to win the Open Trot at Saratoga Casino and Raceway on Sunday afternoon.

Jim Devaux piloted the Kyle Spagnola-trained Cash Hall trotter and swung him three-wide around the final turn before reeling in track record holder Bourbon Bay (John Cummings Jr.) in the final furlong. The win was the first in the $18,000 Open for Cash Me Out, who set a new mark of 1:55.1 on Sunday.

Bourbon Bay, who set the track record two weeks ago with a dazzling 1:53 romp in his local debut, had to settle for second this week while longshot Lucid Thoughts (John Macdonald) earned the show spot.

Cash Me Out, who returned $20.80 to win, moved his career earnings to over the $400,000 mark with his score in the trotting feature. The exacta paid $92.50 while the triple returned $741.
