When it comes to closing speed, not many trotters on the WEG circuit can match the power of Charmed Life.

The OSS graduate used her patented closing kick to perfection en route to capturing Friday evening’s edition of the $34,000 Preferred for trotters at Woodbine Racetrack, and she did so in an impressive clocking of 1:54.

Charmed Life got away next-to-last in the field of nine and she remained there while Doubledown Gass led the group through fractions of :26.4, :56.3 and 1:25.4. James MacDonald started up the motor on Charmed Life turning for home and the mare used a :27-second kicker to win by a pair of lengths over Catch The Dream. Third prize went to Slip Into Glide.

Dave Menary trains the four-year-old daughter of Majestic Son-Christina M for Menary Racing Inc, Brad Gray and Mike Guerriero. The win improved her 2014 record to 6-3-4 from 19 trips to the track. The 13-time winner pushed her lifetime earnings to $648,517.
