Delaware’s top bred two-year-old pacers and trotters will be showcased Monday at Harrington Raceway in four $100,000 final events in the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF)
. Post time is 5:30 p.m.
The first final to get underway will be the filly trot, slated as the fourth race on the program and second leg of the Rick 4 (Races 3-6). A powerful Les Givens-trained entry of Da Boss Lady (PP 1, 2-1, Jim Morand) and Alleigh Girl (PP 4, 2-1, Ross Wolfenden) heads the field. Owned by Nanticoke Racing and Delbert Cain, Alleigh Girl swept her elims, while Da Boss Lady overcame breaks in both of her races to finish second.
The filly pacing final is the eighth race on the program. Badlands Racing LLC’s owner entry of Triple Wire (PP 1, Montrell Teague) and No Picnic (PP 7, Ross Wolfenden) have been installed the 9-to-5 morning line favorite. No Picnic won both of her elims for trainer Steve Leblanc, while Triple Wire was the runner-up in her splits. Like No Picnic, Ed Walls’ Designer Bags (PP 2, 4-1, Allan Davis) and Preston Burris and David Hanauer’s Genies Genie (PP 3, 7/2, Tony Morgan) each swept their elimination races.
The boys will get started in Race 10 as the pacing colts will go postward in their final, as Gary and Barbara Iles’ Shaving Mug (PP 2, 2-1, Montrell Teague) will look to win his third straight race after winning both legs of his eliminations in dominant fashion. He is one of two George Teague-trained horses in the group as Majorly Bad (PP 3, 7-2, Jason Lynch) looks to build on a win last week. Bob Shahan owns and trains the entry of Chizzled In Stone (PP 5, 3-1, Jon Roberts) and Hot Shot Dresser (PP 6, 3-1, Tony Morgan), both of whom were second and third in their elims.
The trotting colt final is the last of the $100,000 events, and is the 12th race. Nanticoke Racing and Ross Wolfenden’s Windshield (2-1, Wolfenden) swept her elimination races and will try to overcome Post 7 for trainer Givens. Meanwhile, Marvin Meyer and David Meyer’s Spunky Jack (3-1, Vince Copeland) drew Post 2 after a win and a second in DSBF action for trainer Paul Wojtowicz. Shaun Callahan and Dawn Amiss’ Left Alone Ranger (4-1, Corey Callahan) won his second divisional elimination and drew the rail for conditioner Nick Callahan.
There are also four $20,000 consolation events on the undercard for the two-year-old Delaware-bred pacers and trotters
