Temagami Seelster Wires Them Up

Temagami Seelster was intent on playing spoiler as she cruised to her seventh win of the season in the Thursday evening feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Leaving sharply from post 4, Temagami Seelster secured the lead in the $2,350 feature for driver Brodie MacPhee and led through fractions of 28.1, 57.2, 1:27.2 and 1:56.3 while snapping the win streak of the pocket sitting favourite, The Time To Win, at three races.

Tom Weatherbie trains Temagami Seelster for owners David Mercer and Joseph Lewis of Sydney and Wayne McGean of Sydney Mines, N.S. The Time To Win (Driven by Marc Campbell) was second while Private Di (Kenny Arsenault) was third.

Mile Hill Willie renewed his profitable partnership with driver Gilles Barrieau in winning the $2,400 Open trot class in 1:57.2 for co-owner and trainer Paul Morrison of Cardigan and New Brunswick co-owner John Breau of Shediac Cape. Freddie (Campbell) rallied for second with Glider Man (David Dowling) third.

It was one of three wins on the card for Barrieau who also visited the historic winner’s circle with Ill Tell Me Ma (1:58.2) for trainer Scott Dunn and Outrageous Spirit (1:59.1) from the Kevin Peters barn.

Dowling was the most popular pilot of the night with four wins on the evening program.

The reinsman kicked off the action in race 2 with an easy 1:57.2 victory aboard Gia Diamond for trainer Toby MacDonald. Rollwithitannie gave him win number two in race 3 in 1:58.3 from the Jeff Holmes Stable followed by a 2:01.4 trot score with Scary Good in race 6 for trainer Randy Van Meer. Dancers Pass took a new lifetime best in the evening finale in 1:57.1 for Dowling and trainer Philip Kelly.
