Veteran driver Mike Saftic is a familiar face on the Woodbine Entertainment Group circuit, but for at least the rest of October, he will be absent

from the racetrack.

Saftic was involved in an on-track incident on Saturday, October 8 at Woodbine Racetrack, when he was dumped from the sulky after he was unable to avoid Whippet Good and driver Jason Brewer who fell, which then caused a chain reaction that also unseated both Rick and Scott Zeron.

The reinsman went to the emergency room to get looked at and x-rayed after the spill. He was told everything checked out.

“So I tried to drive again, but it was very uncomfortable,” Saftic said. “I went to my family doctor and the radiologist that read the x-rays said I had a couple of cracked ribs that were displaced, which was why I was in such pain.

“He said, ‘Take the rest of the month off and see how you feel from there. It could be longer, but just make sure you get healed.’ It’s the right thing,” the Campbellville, Ont. resident added.

Saftic will hang up his driving suit for a couple of weeks, and look forward to getting back into the bike.

Until then, Saftic is resting up north, spending time looking over Harrisburg’s Black Book Sales Catalogue.

Mike heres hoping to a speedy recovery. I'm glad to see that Rick will soon be back in the bike and I'm also thankful that neither Jason or Scott suffered any serious injuries. But did I fall?

Love Whippet Good

Speedy recovery to a real class act - and a great promoter of the sport every time he visited Stampede Park.

You might be getting old Mikey but you're still one of the best. I'm sure you're soking it up with poor Kathy. Speedy recovery
