Driver Marc St Louis had another five-win afternoon at Leamington Raceway which included a victory in the $5,800 Preferred 4 Pace on Sunday, Oct. 20 to also give owner-trainer William Leon three victories on the card.

St Louis steered NJs Trick Pistol to a hard-fought wire to wire win in the afternoon feature. The 11-year-old Sagebrush gelding—sent the even-money favourite—protected position from the pylons to lead the field past a :29 opening quarter but endured first-over pressure from Insincerity through middle fractions of :58.1 and 1:28. Insincerity retreated through the stretch but second-over Oldfriendskentucky kicked off cover to challenge NJs Trick Pistol late, settling for second by a half length in a 1:58.4 mile. Cantcountmeout rode a pocket trip for third.

NJs Trick Pistol won his fifth race from 16 starts this season and his 41st from 244 overall, earning $190,456. He paid $4.10 to win.

William Leon’s other training victories came with St Louis at the reins. The pair swept the early double with Arts First Luck ($3.00) rallying from second over in the opener and S R Willpower ($4.40) taking command past the quarter and strolling to victory in the next race. St Louis collected two more victories on the day when visiting the winner’s circle with Mister Godro ($6.90) and Zinfandart ($5.40).
