Painted Desert Favoured At Summerside

The Sunday afternoon feature is a wide open affair for the field of seven top pacers at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

The card kicks off at 1 p.m., with the race 10 $2,100 featured pace lining up with Painted Desert as the morning line favourite from post four fresh off a victory in this class last Sunday. Corey MacPherson drives the Trevor Hicken-trained pacer for owner Perry Burke of Grosse-Ile, Que. Minor Wisdom will be sure to show early speed from post one with Adam Merner driving for trainer Kristina McCourt while Rash B Havior has post five with Dale Spence in the bike for owner/trainer Mike Peters of Emyvale at 3-1 odds.

Race analyst Bo Ford will look for Painted Desert to repeat his 1:56 and change victory in last week's Sunday feature event.

"One thing is for sure is that Painted Desert will get some fractions," Ford said of Minor Wisdom leaving from the pylons. "Expect Corey to be out and rolling early to try and wear down the front-stepping horses in here."

The $1,700 back-up class hits the track in race seven with J Rs Hurricane favoured off the rail with Merner in the bike for owner/trainer Jean Charles Belliveau of Scoudouc, N.B. The 34-time winner has been sharp lately with top three finishes in his last four outings. Other top contenders in that class include Cyrax (Devon Wallace) and Chevalier Semalu (Dale Spence).

George is favoured in the $1,000 race 11 finale with Merner in the driver's seat from post five for trainer George Riley of Summerside.
