Delaware Special To Papa Ray

Legacy Racing of Delaware and Reginald Hazzard's Papa Ray was a 1:51.3 winner in the featured $15,000 Delaware Special Monday at Harrington Raceway.

Trained by Wayne Givens, the eight-year-old Village Jolt stallion notched his 40th career win. Papa Ray and driver Victor Kirby waited patiently behind pacesetter Framed Art throughout before blazing home in :26.4 for a narrow win.

Two "rickshaw rumble" races were held to benefit Horse Lovers United, a local non-profit who finds homes for retired racehorses. Organized by Heather Vitale, the fundraiser has become a popular event where local horsemen take the place of horses in a 1/16 of a mile sprint.

Four $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund finals will be contested on the Wednesday October 4 Harrington program as part of a showcase of Delaware's top two-year-olds.
