Tobago Cays, with Hall of Famer Cat Manzi driving, took the lead at the quarter-mile pole and never looked back, winning the NJSS Green Acres Final for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings in 1:55.1. The margin was a half-length over BJs Bequia, who had led early in the race. Terlingua finished third.

It was the sixth victory in 21 starts this year for Tobago Cays, whose earnings were increased to $155,159 this year and $208,441 for his career for owner Brian Nixon of Centerport, New York. This was a good month for the Jeff Webster-trainee, who scored two other wins earlier in October, one in the $50,000 New Jersey Futurity and the other in a preliminary heat of the Green Acres series.

In the $35,000 Green Acres final for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings, Arockin Hanover overtook the pacesetter, Four Starz Q, in the stretch to win in 1:57.1. Brent Holland drove the winner for co-owners John Carver of Rapids City, Illinois, and Greg Gillis and Gerry Munroe, both of Edmonton, Ont. It was the fourth win in 12 starts for the Erv Miller-trained colt, whose purse earnings rose to $78,095.

A week earlier, Four Starz Q won a preliminary heat of the series in a 1:55.3 Green Acres record for two-year-old geldings, erasing the previous mark of 1:56.3 shared by Brokaw in 2004 and Beam Of Life in 2006.
