Jeb Upsets In Red Shores Feature

A pocket ride was all it took for Jeb to land on top in the Thursday evening feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

In line to Jason Hughes, Jeb left off the rail in the $2,200 feature and released heavy favourite Nogreatmischief to the front. Nogreatmischief laid down front end fractions of :29.1, :58.3 and 1:28.1 with Jeb sitting in the two-hole at 7-1. Hughes tipped the pacer out at the head of the stretch to power by and win in 1:57.1 for owners Robi Hughes and Blair and Eric MacLauchlan. Red Magician was second with Nogreatmischief finishing third.

Dusty Lane Jacob captured the $1,850 Open trot for driver Merner, co-owner and trainer Cindy MacDonald of Montague and co-owner Tanya MacKinnon of Souris. Time of the mile was 1:59.4.

Drew Neill of Winsloe celebrated the first win of his young training career. The 17-year-old horseman conditions Cougar Gal who landed in the winner's circle in a mile of 2:00.1 at 17-1 odds. The nine-year-old daughter of American Ideal is owned by Neal Moase of Warren Grove.

Drivers Gordie Hennessey, Hughes and Merner all scored driving doubles.

Live racing continues Saturday at 6 p.m. at Red Shores Charlottetown featuring the Maritime Breeder's eliminations for two and three-year-old trotters.
