Ottawa Council To Sign Gaming Contract

It has been reported in the Ottawa Citizen that on Wednesday, October 10, Ottawa Councillors voted 12-11 in favour of signing a contract with the Province of Ontario that will see the city receive a four per cent take of proceeds from a variety of casino games that will eventually be up and running at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

The article states that there are elements of the contract that Councillors were not particularly fond of, including an ‘indemnity clause’ which, among other aspects, could allow the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. to increase the number of live table at the track from 21.

The report has cited Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson as having stated that the OLG has let him know on multiple occasions that it plans on respecting the ‘Council-imposed’ limit of 21 gaming tables at the track.
