Four For Morgan; Five Straight For Rollaway Zak

Fox Valley Patina and Real Magician used similar strategies on a cold and windy Sunday, January 3 to win the double-feature races at Dover Downs. Tony Morgan reins four winners

Wilma Chambers and Colleen Chambers Racing's Fox Valley Patina dashed into the lead after the half and then held off a fast finishing Teika Rose (Roger Plante) down the lane to score her second win in three starts taking the $14,000 4&5-Year-Old pace to give Tony Morgan his fourth winner on the card. Wendy T (Jon Roberts) was the show finisher.

Real Magician came to the outside heading around the clubhouse turn behind clover then went three-wide heading to the far turn before getting the lead and then finished strongly to score a 1:54.3 victory in a $13,000 Male pace. Tony Morgan picked up his second win guiding the Real Artist-Brookie B gelding for Niel Gargiulo and Wayne Givens to his second win of the meet. Stuart Brown n (Ross Wolfenden) came on to finish second in front of Wingandaprayer N (Mike Cole).

Brad Hanners ushered PT Stable's Thunderfist along the passing lane to overtake front-pacing Hoof It N (Jim Morand) in deep stretch for a 1:55.2 win in an $11,000 Male pace. It was the Astreos-Mattman N Robin gelding's second straight triumph. What A Boomer (Ron Pierce) got up for third.

Don Warrington and Don Hawk's Racsan John, with Vic Kirby driving, roared up the backstretch to catch race leader Escapefromalcatraz (Brad Hanners) nearing the finish line for a 1:53.3 conquest in a $25,000 Claiming Allowance. Eoos (Ross Wolfenden) closed with a rush to finish third.

Trotter Rollaway Zak, owned by Elizabeth Brittingham, became the winningest horse at the meet when Bret Brittingham drove the 11-year-old Rompaway Butch-Perfectly Sassy gelding to his fifth consecutive victory to win a $12,500 Delaware Claiming trot. Mr Beau Windswept (Corey Callahan) and Redington Shores (Ross Wolfenden) were second and third respectively.
