Flamboro Downs' Announcer Idol competition continued on Sunday night with Ted Michaels, Afternoon News Anchor for CHML 900AM, invading the announcer's booth for the third race.

Driven by J.R. Plante, favourite Phillips Seelster ($3.20) romped to a nine length victory in 1:58 over the snow covered track in the fourth edition of Announcer Idol with Michaels giving the play-by-play.

"No question here that Phillips Seelster is going to get the victory," called Michaels as the pacers turned for home with 'Phillips' leading by a widening six lengths. "The question now, who finishes in second and third position?"

Twelve-year-old Strong Cam and Bob McClure were the best of the rest while Ziggy Sky and Lyle MacArthur rallied from last to show.

Phillips Seelster earned his third win in a row. The three-year-old Camluck colt is trained by Patrick Shepherd and owned by Margo Fisher of Fredericton, N.B.

Announcer Idol continues through March 23 with a different, local broadcast media personality taking the mic for the third race every Sunday night. At the end of March, fans and patrons will vote for their favourite race call on the Flamboro Downs website and the winning announcer will receive a donation to the local charity of their choice, compliments of Flamboro Downs and Great Canadian Gaming.

The February line up includes Laura Leigh Groppo (105.7 EZ Rock), Jason Portuondo (CHCH TV), Ted Yates (Oldies 1150 CKOC), and Andrew Gerrior (FreshFM 95.3).

In other action, favourite Nothingbutmach ($3) and driver Phil Hudon went wire-to-wire to win the $7,000 Preferred 3 Pace in 1:56.3. The Corey Johnson trainee held off fellow Mach Three son Mach It Big by a head for owner Debbie Element of Waterdown, Ont.
