Michelangelo and driver Rheo Filion prevailed from off-the-pace in the $6,500 Winners Over Handicap trotting feature on Sunday night at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

Imminent Response (Darrell Colville) seized the lead from early leaver Jetcrest (Guy Gagnon) by the :29.1 first quarter and trotted to the half in 1:00.3. Meanwhile, favourite Undercover Bro (Stephane Lareau) advanced first over from third with Michelangelo picking up the cover from mid-pack. Undercover Bro worked his way ahead of Imminent Response down the backstretch, taking command before the 1:29.3 third quarter mark. However, Michelangelo rushed up around the final turn and trotted by for the 1:59.4 victory over the track rated "good" with a one second variant on the -16 degree Celsius evening. Jetcrest came back on for second while Imminent Response finished third. Undercrover Bro was just beaten for fourth by Ive Got It All (Sylvain Lacaille).

Michelangelo returned $12.60 for a $2 win ticket. Owned and trained by Chelsea Knapp, the six-year-old son of Angus Hall won 10 races last season and now has back-to-back wins in 2015.
