Power And Grace ($4.60) lived up to her name in Wednesday's (Jan. 22) featured $11,500 Preferred 2 and 3 Handicap Trot at The Raceway at Western Fair District, turning in a pillar-to-post 1:59.1 score in sub-freezing temperatures.

The five-year-old daughter of Holiday Road strode to a comfortable lead from post 4 in line to Brett MacDonald, and the pair controlled early sectionals of :29 and :59.1. On the second circuit, Power And Grace faced a first-over challenge from Ionia (J Harris) — who advanced steadily out of fourth to push a :29.2 third split — but made easy work of that rival on approach to the far turn. Power And Grace accelerated away two a two-length lead nearing the home turn, and that separation gave her enough of a jump on Sizzlen Hot Herbie's three-wide stretch rally to win by 1-1/4 lengths. Sizzlen Hot Herbie (Natasha Day) narrowly held second over Sicario (Alfie Carroll), who wedged through up the pegs in the final yards.

Trainer Lormer McClure co-owns 15-time winner Power And Grace with John McClure.
