The Callie Rankin trained, owned and driven Brawn Seelster continued his win streak tonight at Flamboro Downs taking his fourth consecutive victory in the $13,000 Preferred 2 Trot.
While making an early move to the front, Locofoco N (Mitchell Sahely) broke stride handing the lead to Zorgwijk Fortunate (Jean Rene Plante), but Batalj Launcher (Anthony Haughan) made a quick launch and was right there to claim the top spot at the :28.1 first quarter.
Meanwhile, Rankin and the 4-5 favourite sat in fourth until making a first-over attempt after the half in :58.2. The son of Berndt Hanover advanced steadily on the outside as the field past three-quarters in 1:27.3. With a :29.3 final frame, Brawn Seelster rolled on by the pacesetter for the two-length triumph in 1:57.2. Welding Spark D (Robert Shepherd) finished third.
With 34 wins under his belt, seven-year-old Brawn Seelster has earned $365,490 in purses for Rankin and co-owner Jeff Goreski of Richmond Hill, Ont.
