Last Call For Tickets And Online Voting

Grand River Raceway has issued a reminder about deadlines for two upcoming events -- Powder Puff Night and the inaugural Race Announcer Contest.

POWDER PUFF NIGHT

A handful of tickets remain for the Grand River Raceway's third annual Powder Puff Night on July 4. The event features a pre-race performance by renowned psychic to the stars, Psychic Nikki. The Toronto-based clairvoyant's client list includes: Shirley MacLaine, Cher, Rod Stewart, Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, several Survivor contestants, Hilary Duff and U2 frontman Bono.

During her appearance, Psychic Nikki will perform random readings of audience members in the Captain's Quarters Dining Room prior to dinner and the races. One lucky ticket-holder will also win a stunning diamond, compliments of Frank's Jewellers, the diamond experts in uptown Waterloo.

Powder Puff Night also features the Mildred Williams International Ladies' Driving Series (MWDS) and a Penny Auction to benefit the Canadian Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

RACE ANNOUNCER CONTEST

Online voting closes July 4 at 9:00 (EST) for Grand River Raceway's inaugural Race Announcer Contest. Voters will determine which three of the six aspiring race announcers advance to the finals on July 18 at Grand River Raceway in Elora, ON.

The contest attracted entries from around the globe, including both Canadian coasts, several regions of the U.S., and overseas.

The semifinalists are:

• Eric Haughan from Dublin, Ireland

• Adam Mauntah from Ottawa, ON

• Dan Trinetti from Mississauga, ON

• John Massey from Jackson, New Jersey, USA

• Nicholas Oakes from Cornwall, PEI

• Marcus Johnson from Chicago, Illinois, USA

The three finalists will duke it out with a live race call at Grand River Raceway on July 18. Grand River Raceway patrons will determine the winner by secret ballot.

The champion will call a race during Grand River Raceway's Industry Day celebration – the marquee event of the season, featuring the $300,000 Battle of Waterloo. In addition, the winner will receive $250. The winner and three friends will also be treated to an Industry Day lunch in the Captain's Quarters tiered dining room.
