Kaplan Tops In Pick The Punter

With a winner in the final race, Trot Magazine editor Darryl Kaplan surged past the early leaders and finished with the highest bankroll in the Pick The Punter Handicapping Challenge.

Kaplan chose Scotts Big Guy in the contest's final race - the second race on Fraser Downs' Saturday night card - while all the other punters sided with Liberty Bill. Scotts Big Guy scored at 8-1 for the upset win, giving Kaplan a total bankroll of $62.80 and the lead over second-place finisher Dave MacLean from the Telegraph Journal with Toronto Star handicapper Hans Grottke finishing in third.

Of the contest entrants that chose Kaplan in the Pick The Punter contest, the person closest to his bankroll will qualify for the Trot National Handicapping Championship on Saturday, October 18 at Woodbine Racetrack.
