Del Kissner Passes

Trot Insider has learned that longtime horseman Delton (Del) Frederick Peter Kissner passed away on December 19, 2008, at Lanark Heights at the age of 87.

Kissner was the beloved husband of Lyla Beth (Betty) (Torrance) Kissner. Dear father of Jovie (Rob) Allison, Jane Kissner and Penny Winkler. Papa and Grandpa to Katie and Beth Allison, Jeff and Jansen Winkler, Jennifer Emery and Jessica Koechl. Also great-grandfather of three.

For many years Del and his brother, Fred Jr. owned and operated Kissner Milling Co. Ltd. Del served for over 40 years as a municipally-elected member of the Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro Commission (Kitchener P.U.C.).

Del also owned and trained thoroughbred and standardbred horses, and for eight years was a car salesman at Forbes Motors.

Del was predeceased by his sister, Marjorie Hurlbut; brother, Fred Kissner Jr. and his parents, Tillie and Fred Kissner.

A private family funeral was held on Monday, December 22, 2008. Interment Memory Gardens, Breslau. In living memory of Del a donation will be made to the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
