Le Massif Takes Vernon Feature

Le Massif dominated the $10,274 featured pace on Saturday evening (May 4) at Vernon Downs.

To The Hunt (Dylan Huckabone) went to the front and led to the quarter in :27.1. Gunpowder N (John MacDonald) went first-up from third and led to the half in :57.2. As they headed to the final turn, Le Massif ($18.20) went first-over and flew right on by and led to three-quarters in 1:25.4. Le Massif exploded out of the turn and won easily in a seasonal best of 1:53.3. To The Hunt was second and Old Pal (Truman Gale) finished third.

Le Massif is a five-year-old horse by Shanghai Phil, owned by Laurent Pednault and trainer Melanie Boulianne. The win was his third this season from nine starts and he now has 11 victories lifetime.

John MacDonald drove three winners on the card. Dale Lawton had a training double.

Live harness racing returns to Vernon Downs on Friday, May 10 at 4 p.m.
